DOWNTOWN
MASTER PLAN AND YOUR VOICE
SMGA
has an interest in what happens downtown because we
have an indirect interest in what happens with related
issues in San Marcos. The master plan will impact how
our citizens and visitors view and support our efforts
to keep the river running clean and clear and how we
generate revenue for supporting the conservation and
stewardship of our natural areas. A plan that supports
bicycle and pedestrian connections would provide clean,
green opportunity to get into and around in our natural
areas. This reduces our impervious parking needs for
parks as well as traffic congestion.
The
survey must be completed by Thursday, 11 May. Tell a
friend.
Please
take the time to fill out the online survey or to at
least learn more by going to the city’s website
by clicking on this link: Downtown
Master Plan

Every Saturday morning for the rest of April we have
trail crew from 08:30-10:30. It’s fun
and rewarding. If you are totally new to trails and
trail work, no problem. We can train you in some basics
each time out. This is a “pick-up”, sand
lot kind of arrangement; if you can make it great, if
you can’t it’s OK. We are currently working
in Ringtail. View directions
here.
As
with all our walks, sturdy shoes and long pants are
recommended as well as hat, eye wear and sun block as
needed. We will provide bug repellent if needed, water,
and snacks.
NATURESCAPES
PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST DETAILS
There
is still a chance to capture some winter type landscapes
with your camera but you better hurry. SMGA and the
Hill Country Photography Club in cooperation with the
San Marcos Arts Council continue to refine the details
of this year’s nature photography contest. You
can find out about the categories, rules and requirements
here at Naturescapes. View
photographs from last year!
Here
is a schedule for the contest:

THINKING
ABOUT A FRIDAY FAMILY MOONLIGHT COOKOUT AND HIKE. The
board has been discussing the possibility of holding
a family friendly get together some evening when the
moon would be rising. We have tentatively scheduled
Friday May 12th or Saturday May 13th as a target date
and Ringtail Ridge as the location. If you are interested
in participating or just making some comments contact
us.
SMGA
RENEWS CHAMBERS MEMBERSHIPS The chambers of
